This is something I was speaking of on another discussion.

People let things like tv and forums like this give them a skewed sense of reality. They lose perspective.

For example, if someone just dropped down to earth and read this forum, they would probably get the idea that transsexuals make up 75% of the population, and you can't walk three feet without tripping over one and 9 out of 10 elementary school children are getting sex changes without their parents consent.

But the reality is that the vast majority of the general population will most likely never even meet a trans person.

Considering how conservative people are here, and how conservative people generally live in conservative areas, it's even less likely anyone here will ever meet a trans person.

So taking that into consideration, there is a huge imbalance of the amount of time and energy and stress involved with getting wrapped up in the issue than what it should merit.
