Ah, the incomparable N. C. Wyeth, I'd recognize his style anywhere. This illustration right here (it was used for a Zane Grey novel cover) is powerful. The determined look on the faces tells you something significant is about to happen.
If this was a Rorschach Test, I'd say this illustration is "Good men having to do bad things".... just like the situation we are all in today.
I recognized the style, but could not place the name, I have a Treasury Island book from long long ago with pictures he did for the book.
I had that book too when I was a child. Loved reading that one. There are several American painters and illustrators whose work I love... Maxfield Parish, N.C. Wyeth, Thomas Hart Benton, and of course Edward Hopper. They all had their distinct styles and all of them spoke to me in some way.
