Whether walking, jogging, shopping pay attention to your surroundings. That means stay off your cell phone and take out your ear buds, for your safety.
Today I was driving home form a garden center in my neighborhood. I saw a young man with ear buds in start to cross the street ( a moderately busy street). I slowed down as he stepped into the opposing lane, only then did he look up after he was in the street! I motioned for him to cross and he went to the mailbox. Not only do pedestrians need to be attentive, but also drivers!
