So 2023. What changed?

Desantis hints at, but has not announced, running for pres.

Desantis did not entertain the idea of running as Trumps VP.

Trump sees him as competition; and Trump is a ruthless competitor, even to people he is friends with. He verbally ripped rand paul and ted cruz apart; two men who are now fighting for the same policies that Trump would support.

According to Roger Stone recently on X22, Trump was made aware (by Ted Cruz, IIRC) that DeSantis had made many nice comments about Trump. Trump was then convinced to help DeSantis in his run for Governor. According to Stone, he would never have made Governor, without the help of Trump, who made many trips to Florida. Trump sees DeSantis' "flirting" with running for president as a stab in the back.

Well stated. I dont know much about roger stone and dont endorse him but what you said is accurate.
