So you equate going with God's design as being unintelligent and a sign of being an animal....but going against God's design and constantly falling short is a sign of being a higher life form? Where are you getting this idea that Adam and Eve were stupid? I'll say it again, look at the world that we live in....look at the content on this site and the issues that we face with deep state governments/politicians, NGOs, and big businesses. Is this the way to you? Peace and unity with God and other humans is of lower value to you, than hatred, racism, sexism, classism, and other real or perceived issues. I think that type of mindset is weird, but to each their own.
They had no knowledge of good and evil. There was no self-awareness. Does that not describe how animals are?
I don't think higher thought equates to all those things you mentioned. Those are just fuckery. Without these misguided ideas from the bible about the nature of life that have had such undue influence I think we could be smart enough to not get into this trouble in the first place.
To give your mind to a bizarre self-serving mythology of a tiny group of ancient people seems so strange to someone like me. It's not that I think unity with god has low value. It has no value or negative value because it has a dumbing down effect. I have never seen a shred of evidence of god or his son therefore I do not have belief in them.
They had no knowledge of good and evil in the sense of the specific types of evil, but God did tell them what would happen if they ate from the tree....which means that God did provide them enough information to know not to do it. With that explained, I don't believe that they were not self-aware. I just think that their relationship with God had not been breached as of yet, so "awareness" as we would define it is was meaningless. The book of Genesis even states this when it says (paraphrasing) that they were naked but were not ashamed.
As for your disbelief, I can't blame you if you haven't encountered God as of yet. I pray that you will seek him and that he will reveal himself to you. The evidence of God is all around in this world that he has created. As for atheism and agnosticism, those beliefs have their own flaws that begs for even more questions.
Naked but not ashamed suggests to me they had no self-awareness. It's not disbelief I have. It's non-belief. There is a difference. I hold that just about everything is possible. I have seen no evidence of it. I would put some of the more powerful psychedelic experiences I've had up against your experience of god for sheer enlightenment any day. You might be amazed to know how reality unfolds before your eyes.
