you aren't listening to me, but that's because you have already made up your mind. not very 'agnostic' of you
I would say the opposite. You are locked into your belief because faith requires you to be unshakable. If I saw strong evidence that what you are saying is true I would be happy to change.
you will never see the evidence without first having the faith.
you are thinking of this as a value judgement instead of as natural laws. you will never be shown anything other than what your beliefs allow you to see.
I choose to have faith, because I have seen the effect it has firsthand. nobody can prove that to you. you must seek it for yourself, and without faith, you will never find it.
You can't seem to wrap your head around choosing not to believe anything if at all possible. That to me is what leads to enlightenment. Being stuck in a belief in a possibly infinite reality would be so boring and most likely wrong. You are cutting out everything outside the narrow B.S. (belief system.)
i do understand where you're coming from, i think more than vice versa.... i had to do a lot of secondary reading before the Bible made much sense. i wasn't raised with any religion, and I studied many different belief systems before seeing the value of Christianity.
but my interpretation of it is too weird for many on here. i had to come to it the way you describe. i've experienced it in action, with reproducible results. i have asked and received many times. but these results are affected by your state of mind, which means i can't prove it to you, you must prove it for yourself.
you're right, its quite infinite. and the Bible is a bit narrow. but I am grateful for it. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.
however, I am grateful for many other books, that give the Bible some context. i think you might appreciate some of them too.
