So they took his advice, and when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name. And every day in the temple and at home they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ. - Acts 5:40-42
I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me - John 14:9
Jesus is the Truth itself, and to suffer and die for the sake of the Truth is to suffer and die for the glory and honor of God. And God has deemed it fitting that you be born into this epoch to have the honor of bearing witness to the Truth.
On a side note, I don't know the entirety of your circumstances, but perhaps it would have been better if you exercised caution and prudence and not have been too aggressive to a people who were not ready for the Truth. There is a parable where Jesus heals someone's sight but in multiple stages, he sees a bit, sees a little more, than has his vision restored fully. So too when we try to restore people's sight to the truth, it shouldn't be done too quickly or aggressively lest they start to resist you.
