I remember reading about this way back, maybe not this exact article, but it said the same things.
He really was a production assistant on Oak Island for 5 episodes in 2014.
Accordin to this, he really did die. Haven't been able to find a cause of death.
Here's one of many reddit (sorry) articles discussing it.
It appears the (what I would call a) rumor, started with 'History Heretic', and all subsequent articles seem to be based on it. Don't know who this is and haven't looked into it.
As usual, take all with a grain of salt.
I still maintain, we will never know the full and real story behind Oak Island.
