Secure Safe. Gimme a break mods. General Chat takes forever to get an answer!
Needs an answer, STAT!
Pedes, I need to buy a safe that has to be secured in concrete or something similar. Don’t need a real big one, so not a gun safe. A few pounds of “retirement” will be going into it. I’ll need to have it installed. I’m in the southeast. Can you guide me?
Don’t forget the freezer! Buy a nice big safe. Then store the “cheddar” in the freezer. Preferably in a nice cardboard container matching other freezer memorabilia. It’s amazing how refrigerators are never stolen in a house fire, or burned on the inside. In most cases.
This is the way. No one is going to steal a box of Eggo Waffles.
Sad to say I used to be a thief. Big safes and the like are just billboards of temptation to a thief. Obviously letting no one know about it is key, but sometimes people accidentally talk. Like your child’s friend, who happen to see it, and just mentions how awesome it is. A picture in the room, like a selfie l, and oops, the edge of the safe is in the shot. All kinds of crap happens. I say get a blaze orange, white flags, and wrap a log chain around your safe…the firefighters and cops will fight to steal it when your house burns. But the freezer…nobody thinks of the freezer. Even in a house fire the frozen steaks are still intact. Now all you need is just a bit of thinking, like a ziplock bag, water proof ammo can, and a nice hamburger patty cardboard box or as you said a eggo wafffle box. Done. There are many options to amount, the size of your freezer, or what’s contained. Just needs some creative thinking.
Now to store those silver coins. You’ll need a pvc pipe, and end cap, and a water source, like a stream, pond, or water/mud hole……
I'd love to see the report or news stories of cops and firefighters fighting over who gets the safe.
Oh you won’t see the report. I know plenty of cops and firefighters…they are just like anyone else. Temptation is temptation. That’s why you NEVER buy those suitcase style safes. They are good for placing inside another safe however. It’s like a lock someone places on a trailer or bicycle. That’s only for the honest people. As in, a lock keeps people honest. To a thief is just 10-60 seconds of time. And time is the main obstacle to a thief. If they can take it quickly, it’s gone. If it takes more time, they’ll look for easier targets. It just depends on the items worth. I know plenty of folks who go to a job for a day or two(construction) and they lock up the hitch mount, take the tires off the trailer, and then cord it to en electrical pole. That’s how it’s done, lol. Is it unstealable? Of course not. But it sure does make it aggravating. And that’s the point.
