This fully explains why I no longer have any interest in pop culture, news, sports etc. anymore

As just one example, from the early 90s as a teen I started noticing how mainstream films were become progressively... dirtier. Constant pushing of boundaries with regard to swearing, nudity, drugs. Gore had never bothered me funnily enough as it seems that for the time whilst it relied on practical effects, there tended to be a 'morality' at the core of horror/shockers that the protagonists' demises were justified by their transgressive behaviour. But even that went out the window with CGI and the ability to just make OTT albeit horribly fake bloody scenes for their own sake with minimal technical skill.
As regards to the swearing etc, I was very much into etymology and semantics and fascinated by expressive use of language, wit, nuances etc. As movies' dialogue became progressively cruder and basic, I quickly got jaded by it as there was no enrichment to found from wasting 90 minutes on such 'entertainment'.
This is an interesting phenomenon.
The extremist-Left will swear up and down that Video games/music/TV shows don't have an effect on violence or behavior in general.
Then in the next breath they will tell you that Alex Jones needs to be banned because he's promoting [insert random -ist/-phobe].
