Id you intend to not support them but crave some, you can make a pretty similar version by marinating your chicken in a brine of pickle juice. Main thing is ensuring you have a flavourful batter with a dash of sugar, salt, msg and other flavourful spices including onion and garlic powder.

Personally, the I tend to add garlic butter and caramelized onions to my home made version, but what you add is up to you.
