Almost 90 Million American Adults Struggle to Make Ends Meet, Census Says
More Americans struggle to meet expenses now than in the immediate aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic, when millions lost their means of employment, a Census Bureau survey showed.
I'm glad I didn't struggle, as my real "needs" are simple, and my "wants" are fairly cheap.
I don't drive much, so I only have to fill up the car about once a month. We're in the magic time of year where we don't have the heat on any more, and it's not warm enough to turn on the air conditioning. Our last electric bill is the lowest we've had in 40 years. The bill we get in July will probably be higher.
Since I can only wear one pair of shoes at a time, one pair is all I have to wear. I do have a backup new pair stored away. I wear the same set of clothes for several years before they start wearing and need to be replaced. I keep them for yardwork.
I'm eating food I bought two years ago, so I'm that far ahead of inflation.
People need to decide on what they really need, such as cable or satellite, cell phones, eating out, going on vacations, etc. I eat out a little, but don't do any of the other things.
