The subtitle is an inversion of reality. Sommer didn’t say ‘The rise of QAnon and the conspiracy theory that changed the world”, he’s saying that QAnon is the conspiracy. In Sommer’s mind, if the conspiracy he’s talking about rose with QAnon, then the conspirators must be Q and the Anons.

The real conspiracy that Q and the Anons are theorizing about arose much earlier than Q did, so that’s not the conspiracy of which Sommer writes. The real conspiracy really did change the world, in a bad way, but it started well before 2017.
