The Television series that inspired Serenity, was Firefly. Fans of the show, consider it to be the finest Sci Fi program to ever air. The dominant theme of the program, is vast government overreach and control of virtually everything. Pretty much the great reset, but in space. After the first episode was released, Fox did everything in their power, to destroy the franchise. Half the episodes were scrubbed to show MLB games.
