it's been going on for quite some time. why was lincoln assassinated? why did Truman defeat Dewey in the middle of the night and then drop the A bomb? why did FDR provoke the japanese in trade, position the pacific fleet like sitting duck, and ignore warnings from codebreakers that hawaii was going to be attacked?

Ooh, I've never thought about the Truman vs. Dewey election before. Dewey was projected to win that one based on the polling, according to my based high school US history teacher.

Knowing what we know now...

Projected to win doesn't mean anything. Focus more on what masses of people are doing.

Correct, yes, but now that we know what their cheating mechanisms are, there are some interesting questions I've got now regarding the Truman election:

Was Dewey like their Hillary, where they were trying to project him into the WH only for the people to speak up?
Or, was Dewey the true winner until a 3am ballot drop happened? This happened with the JFK/Nixon election as well with a ballot drop in Chicago "fortifying" the election for JFK. Could they have done something similar with Truman first to see if it would work and the local newspapers were unaware?

I'm leaning towards 1, but keeping 2 in the back of my mind.
