God is not only a loving God, he is also a JUST God, but foremost He is HOLY. Holiness will not tolerate the slightest trace of evil. Holiness will stamp it out. The only reason any of us are still alive is because of the patience and kindness of God who waits for the rest of His children to repent.
Every person is born headed for hell and wanting hell. No one has to teach a child how to lie. No one has to teach a child how to steal. We love our sin so long as we can get away with it. But God sees all and no one will get away with anything in the end. People want freedom from God, but "freedom" from God's authority leaves one with only His judgment, which is eternal death.
Romans 3:10-12: “as it is written: 'None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.'"
Because of Adam and Eve's fall, we would all be doomed were it not for the life and death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because of His perfect life and atoning death on the cross and His resurrection, those who trust in Him will also be raised to eternal life on the last day.
John 3:18-20: "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil. For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed."
