Of course I'd do that aswell. Start with kid friendly stuff, then point them to things like Narnia,Tolkien and ,with limitations, Harry Potter and once they're of age, show them authors like Bernard Cornwell, Conn Iggulden,Frank Herbert (Dune) and others.
