People take the word "fear" in a worldly sense and they could not be more wrong.
To fear God, “fear Him”, means to stand in awe of Him: “Let all the earth FEAR the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world STAND IN AWE OF HIM!” (Ps 33.8).
I agree, and would use the word reverence if people understood the meaning- Highly respect would also work for me, but my preference is to find one word.
