100 Wasn't it formaldehyde that went missing from that train weeks ago? (twitter.com) posted 1 year ago by CanadianPedeMan1571 1 year ago by CanadianPedeMan1571 +101 / -1 30 comments share 30 comments share save hide report block hide replies
How would Formaldehyde get in the air naturally? This has all gotten way out of hand.
As a breakdown product of something else, like burning plastic. Not exactly "natural," though.
Formaldehyde is an organic compound and is released naturally in many ways, including forest fires. Although it’s certainly not safe to be around in high levels.
This should be the top comment.
Yes, I meant burning plastic isn't natural. Most natural ways wouldn't be overwhelmingly obvious.
Opening expired diet soft drinks would do that. Aspartame breaks down into formaldehyde. That's why expired diet drinks taste bad.
There was also formaldehyde in the paneling in a lot of mobile homes a long time ago. Burning a lot of them might release some.
There are a lot of possible sources for that common chemical.
