Magnesium glycinate internally, Mg chloride externally with DMSO
Be very careful with DMSO, it can build up in your tissues and become extremely toxic. I would never use DMSO over 1% concentration, because as you approach 5% or higher that's when it begins to build up and can quickly become VERY toxic. And before you tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, I have 30+ years working in research labs testing potentially therapeutic drugs against many different viruses and I have plenty of personal experience preparing drugs in DMSO and also seeing the toxic effects of the DMSO firsthand. Personally, I would avoid DMSO completely if at all possible and try to find another carrier to mix the magnesium or other materials with.
The great benefit of DMSO for mixing with drugs or other compounds is that many materials will go into complete solution in DMSO, even materials that are insoluble in most other liquids. And DMSO passes through the skin INCREDIBLY FAST, carrying whatever is dissolved in it along for the ride. I would try to mix the magnesium in a less toxic carrier, such as coconut oil or almond oil, and see if it will dissolve in them and whether they will carry the magnesium through the skin. If you choose to continue dissolving materials in DMSO, I would highly recommend wearing nitrile (or other material that will block DMSO) gloves when handling DMSO. DMSO will pass right through latex gloves, so they will not protect you. That way you won't accidently get a larger dose than what you intend to give yourself. Again, my personal opinion after seeing the possible toxic effects of DMSO throughout my career is that I personally would avoid it at all costs and only use it as an absolute last resort. I am not a medical professional, so take this information based on my personal experiences accordingly.
Can you expound on what the toxic effects are? I use 99% pure DMSO for knee and elbow pain. I put Volteran on first, followed by the DMSO. Back in the 70's my father used it for knee pain, but he had the industrial kind of DMSO and it made him smell like garlic.
We use 99.9% pure research grade DMSO diluted to between 1 and 10%, depending on the material we need to put into solution. We dilute it in a number of other materials, depending on the situation.
When treated at 5% or greater concentration over time, we see severe weight loss and lethargy, and if continued long enough, organ damage and death are possible. We either have to use a lower concentration, or keep the treatment duration short enough to avoid toxic effects. We use it as little as possible, only when absolutely necessary to solubilize a very difficult material.
I know there are many people who swear by DMSO for many different uses, and I'm not here to argue whether they are right or wrong because I don't know. I am simply telling you to be very careful if you choose to use DMSO on yourself because I have seen firsthand how dangerous it can be in some situations. As I said earlier, I personally would never use it except as a last resort if I had a terminal illness and there were no other remaining alternatives.
Thank you very much for your response. I could use the weight loss (lol), but the lethargy not so much (lol). I guess I will stick to Volteran and ice. Thank you.
