I'm in Ohio. I am asked to return for a 'follow up' visit every three months for blood work to check my A1C as well as other levels, liver/kidney function, blood pressure, etc., in case there is a need to adjust or change a medication. There is some flexibility on scheduling these followups, but I've never 'tested' the doctor on this to see what would happen...although my son had trouble getting a BP refill without a upcoming scheduled appointment and, of course, absolutely NO flexibility for Schedule 1 or 2
