Local protest from outside my old hometown. Protests over mayor fining a homeowner over a "Fuck Joe Biden" flag. They plan another one later this month.

while I would happily slap 9000000 Fuck Biden flags on my front lawn and pay every fine, I also do think having profanity on a public sign for kids to see isnt okay and i see why they fined. obviously if they werent for Fuck Trump signs that is utter and complete horseshit but for front lawns it should be like F*** Biden or whatever. so much of what we are fighting for is to protect kids and having profanity on front lawns is not okay to keep kids kds.
Do you know how kids talk when there are no adults around? They know every swear word in the correct context by age 5. And they roast on each other constantly. They learn it from their parents, and the ones who don't learn it from their parents learn it from the other kids.
This isn't a 2023 thing either. It goes back to when your parents were children, and well before your grandparents were children.
Yeah, I was that kid and I promise you, I made sure my kids aren't like that.
I really hope that works out for you.
What Im struggling with now, and i knew it was coming for years, because I was the same when I was a teenager. Is the kids hold the attitudes, and beliefs of their peers in higher regard to their parents' teachings.
Im not one to shelter my son from the world. There are many things they will only learn on their own. I want him to learn as many of those lessons as possible while I can still take some of that brunt. Not like I was in my 20s when I moved far away and became a professional fuck-up. After being sheltered with good intentions in my childhood.
My kids are homeschooled, their friends and peer group are all homeschooled. I know their friend's parents. We are all making sure our kids aren't going to be brainwashed by this sick society we exist in today. We show them how other kids behave and communicate so they aren't naive about the world when they get out there in it, and they are just as disgusted by what passes as "normal" as we are.
i definitely didnt. i talk like a sailor as an adult but i went to catholic school and did not cuss at all until high school. even then, i never saw cuss words anywhere so it made them feel even more inappropriate. to insinuate theres no way to protect kids' innocence goes against everything people are fighting for. using your logic, they're exposed to all sorts of sexual shit as well on billboards, tv, etc., so why not just let them learn about it and watch it? thats not how it works.
