You should already have at least two years supply of food and other things. Also, plant a garden. If your property isn't quite big enough, plant stuff on ditch banks and in the edge of the woods. Most people nowadays don't know what food plants look like. Also, foraging works. The roadsides in my area are lined in edible plants, such as cattails, Queen Anne's lace, elderberries, and more.

There's also silver, cash as long as it works, and barter. You can find lists of great items for barter that don't cost much now and don't take up much room, but will be hard to create in bad times. One is sewing needles. Try making a good one from scratch. You can put a lifetime supply in one pocket. A simple metal file and a rock can start fires. A Bic lighter can start fires even after the gas runs out, because it will still make sparks for a long time.
