I love the US Constitution and the First Amendment, but I think after what we've seen the past 50 years that it is actually a mistake to leave the spiritual and cultural values of America legally undefended. It just leaves a vacuum to be filled by satanism, paganism, nihilism, islam, judaism, and other non-Christian religions. Instead of the powers of the state, the onus is on the people to be virtuous and God-fearing but we've seen how powerful propaganda and entertainment are in blinding the people and leading them into vice and sin. Right now, even the elite do not follow the First Amendment because they are all pagan-pedo-satanists trying to impose their evil LGBTQ religion on everyone. LGBTQ is the current state religion.
I'm not sure what the solution would be, but at a bare minimum a religion, to be recognized and tolerated, should stay within the confines of the Bible, the 10 Commandments, or the Church Fathers or something, to keep out the riff raff.

Can't really just pretend murder is a part of your faith and get away with it because 'muh 1st amendment'.
