I was listening to commentary on judges in the Bible, and it occurred to me, as a child, one hindrance which kept me from enjoying the Scriptures were the vivid descriptive stories depicting acts of evil.
I literally could not comprehend the viciousness contained within. The book of Judges reminds me of two things, 1) we need, true leadership, under the established laws of God. Without those we are left to our own devices and we suffer accordingly.
2) when we fail to follow God, giving laws and ordinances, then we openly to sin… but we don’t choose the consequences.
In real time — I’m witnessing us as a Nation among many nations, losing our liberties and rights.
