Filum - interesting word choice. Could be comms for threads?

Filum translates to a type of fibrous band.

Maybe related to the FB threads app - thought to bringing back the mockingbird? Mind control?

Filament.

A thin wire that gives off the light in a bulb is called a filament. Due to the heating effect of electric current, the filament heats up, becomes red hot and starts glowing when an electric current is passed through it. Filaments are usually made up of tungsten.
