If you've watched some of the older videos, you'll notice the armored vehicles would never stop moving. Sometimes they'd just be driving in circles while holding a position. The reason for this is to evade long-range artillery fire.
As we can see in these, the vehicles are all frozen in place. So, you wonder are the vehicles damaged? Are the drivers dead? No. The Russians have artillery-deployed anti-tank mines. The Ukrainians drive in, the Russians saturate the area with mines, and they're trapped. Try and drive out and they go boom. Hold position, and the follow-up artillery or loitering drone strikes make them go boom. Sometimes they're lucky enough to get out. Usually they don't get far enough to escape the concussive wave from the blast though.
Since the counteroffensive started, 25-30K Ukrainians have been killed and ~20% of the gear that NATO has given them has been destroyed. Russia's taking some losses, but they're maintaining a 10:1 kill to loss ratio. It's suicidal what we're watching.
Some of the big name ex-military commentators have been very clear in explaining that you simply can't assault a fixed, fortified position like this without significant air power and saturation artillery strikes. This isn't new either. This is WW2-era logic. You simply have to soften up those defenses enough to bring your men in without having them be cut to ribbons by the dug in defenders. Ukraine's not doing any of this right now. The Russians control the skies. Their attack helicopters are having a field day. They do get into artillery duels, but that's about as close as this comes to sensible strategy.
No sane person can watch this and not tear up for the senseless waste of human life on display. The globalists pushing this are just flat out evil.
