Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an integral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on its evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
Please keep me in your prayers. At some point in near future me and a couple of my close young adults (25-40) at my church will be sitting down with the elder board(mainly older 65+) to discuss how we can utilize technology and things like prayer garden..we are trying to pull the good things from all generations to make sure tech grts used correctly while at the same time ensuring we dont go to ectreme and lose the important pieces of what makes a physical church.. I habe a feeling there will be some PASSION on both sides. I think the discussion will bear healthy fruits though. I already have talked to my head pastor, discipleship pastor and one of the elders and they agree we must forward think. I also know my head pastor has talked to them on my behalf. This will be the first time I get to actually be in the room..I'm hoping to kinda create a young adults board that strictly focuses on ensure churches are leading the way in society and technology. Far to often churches play catch up and since most the elders tend to be older it becomes really hard to maintain. At the same time I have much respect for the way of life they grew up in and truly believe there was much good there as well. I'm excited but nervous. I know Jesus will be with me though.
Let me know how it goes. I want to have this exact conversation with my pastor
This is kinda the rough draft for vision of prayer garden. Utilizing communities.win and discord. https://communities.win/c/PrayerGarden/p/16c1ukSEFO/what-is-prayer-garden-/c
Will do. If u do talk with your pastor let me know as well. I'm working on creating the system to where we can all connect. Would love to have your church join us. Right now we have 50 state community.win pages a discord server and YouTube testimony under the prayer garden name. I don't want prayer garden to be about me or be mine so would love to have other churches join and we can all figure it out together
I pray that the Lord will lead you, and give you the right words to say, and that peoples hearts would be open to your ideas.
It's interesting to consider how much less time kids spend with others in physical spaces together, and how often they come into face-to-face contact with others compared to when we were younger.
It's ironic that this is all happening through the use of modern high tech gadgetry. Ironic, because during the pre-industrial revolution era, physical interpersonal interactions among large numbers of people were relatively uncommon.
In the old days, kids weren't crammed into schools with thousands of other kids, and riding on busses with dozens of others- unlike what we did. There were no movie theater's seating hundreds shoulder to shoulder; shopping malls; football stadiums with 70,000 people; or any of those other modern industrialized forms of human-to-human interaction that we all grew up with, and consider normal.
It's almost like modern society is evolving back towards a less human-human contact society in a way. Perhaps mother nature is simply guiding society back towards a more natural scale of human-human interaction.
Wow this sounds a lot like the discussion that took place yesterday at the young adult couples house I went to. We had some pretty awesome talks plus there dad was there so we got a kinda elder view as well. I completely agree with what u said. I truly believe we can utilize technology to bridge that gap. Also many of the people on Prayer Garden after making connections there have begun to seek out and found irl church family..we kinda just need a specific parallel society and network for just the church. Facebook and stuff like that tends to eventually lead down hill for people. U might go on there for something positive then two seconds later negative comes because it's so full of things outside the church. I want to eventually create a discord type app where each church can have it's own private server to invite and run how they want. With some other group servers for the full body to come together. Plus I wanna pair thG with communities.win. we have created state prayer garden pages where each church can help promote locally and begin to come together with local state and ministries. Still getting my wording down.
