For a while there, I remember asking my friend who also is a doctor, to engineer a sunscreen you can take and not worry about the toxic chemical to put on your skin. I can tell you most of the time, i just wear long sleeve and long pants with spf and thin nylon. You can use zinc ointment. No need for sunscreen chemical.
For sun protection, I just wear polarized sunglasses, a long sleeved white shirt and a summer hat or baseball cap. Yes, zinc ointment will shield from UV. No question that the sun feels hotter on the skin, its like a burning sensation. Don't remember that being the case 20 years ago.
