The other day someone calculated a maximum load on C17s would be about 60,000 tons, which is eight times our official holdings. A more feasible amount was about 22,000 tons, still ridiculous. Gold is so heavy, it would be a smaller pile than you might think. A 1 troy oz. coin is about the size of a 50 cent piece.
