10 seconds in, "This looks a bit scary." Scary to whom, exactly? Why is Gates (and Turner and Buffet) so 'scared' of population growth? I refuse to believe that it's over resources, we are doing just fine as a species. Perhaps it's the idea that they cannot control a population the size of the human race, and want more manageable numbers to control.
Can't recall who said it, but a quote that sticks with me is: "It's easier to kill a million people than to control a million people."
It's about competition of resources amongst our descendants which is about control over resources in the future
No one in the West is having children, but everyone in the West consumes way more resources than the people who are having children. And the oligarchs running the West take the cream off the top by controlling the resources used by the West.
That's not a viable long-term situation for control of resources.
