Probably that reality is a whole lot different than what we’re told it is.
Let me layout a series of hypotheticals.
Religion. In this hypothetical scenario. Let’s say we find out that Bible and other Holy texts are incomplete with book’s/verses/chapters deliberately omitted and they were deliberately mistranslated on top of that.
That would shake a lot of the Religious. Christians in particular. Especially the ones who were Bible literalists.
In another. Let’s say a Physicist or someone runs the numbers and we find out the Universe is infinite. That no matter how fast, far, and wide we roam. There’s always more. More stars, More planets. More Galaxies. And by virtue of that infinity. That means anything we could conceive on a physical level at least. Is likely true somewhere.
Let’s take a notion like Multi-Verse or Multi-Dimension theory. Assume it’s true.
Or maybe we find out that the Ancient Myths, Legends and Fantasies we regard as folklore. Were real.
Cryptids, Aliens, Ghosts etc.
All of these are of course hypotheticals. But imagine one or more of them were true. Or any combination of them.
The impact on the surprisingly fragile human psyche would be rather drastic. As it takes our fairly nice and sanitized ordered view of “reality” and takes it behind the woodshed.
...what if it becomes known that we are the third civilization to inhabit this planet and things are alot older than we've been taught
There’s any number of scenarios that could and would drastically upend life as we know it and take what we regard as reality out behind the woodshed.
That indeed is one. And like many of the scenarios. It’s not completely hypothetical. There’s certainly enough folklore and half-remembered stories from across the world to suggest that our ancestors found evidence of such civilizations or in a few places. Met scattered pockets of survivors.
Time of course has seen the stories become embellished. So it’s not clear how much is real and how much is embellishment added by later generations.
Here is the answer to that question. Imagine we were wiped tomorrow. Our space junk would be up up there for thousands of years. So if it hit tomorrow we go back to the stone age thousands of years pass. New monkeys go into space see our old space stuff… there you go.
Think about this. We went to space found past civilizations technology. Brought it down. Now we have super computers. UFOs. You think they want to bring back the mammoth? What about collecting old civilizations dna and bringing them back?
What if all this bs is old civilizations trying to rebuild their lost empires?
