Sure it’s sad that people’s pets might be dead or missing, but what about the hundreds if not thousands of dead and missing people? Until we know where 1200 missing kids are, I can’t really spare any emotional energy or effort for someone’s cat. The Hawaiian government just helped murder an entire town of people. Maybe we should keep focus on what’s actually important.
Within two days after the fire, residents and professionals were let in... and then they were given just a couple hours before being turned back... and shut out for good, two weeks and counting now. So, not letting trained animal rescuers into the site after the first two days IS what mobilized people to start asking questions about EVERYTHING. Animals are important, people are important, everyone is worthy of this attention. I myself spared the emotional energy and effort, and now we have at least one major media outlet that has done its job. When YOU find the children, hopefully their found pets will also be home to greet them. Since you and everyone on this site do care, please start researching, organizing and forwarding anything helpful to the people of Lahaina. Because "the Hawaiian government" did not do this, the US government did: Native Hawaiians have their own government and they need to take back their own lands here by claiming operational control etc. They have legal rights to pursue charges of genocide against their people.
