I was looking at Dora’s storm path and it went by fairly south of the Islands, roughly 500 miles. The rotation was counter clockwise, the winds in the Island should have been east to west. Anyone have good video from the day of fires on wind direction? I don’t know where the fire started but should have blown towards the water - maybe that’s what happened and there’s nothing here. But I’m not the most expert on the whole incident other than it’s sketchy as hell. The winds also seemed a bit much for a storm 500 miles away but I don’t live in hurricane paths so not my experience either.

Randal Carlson talks a bit about the conditions in the first half of this youtube.
I saw one weather commentary that said there was 200 miles of still air between the hurricane and Maui. Dora had a radius of about 200 miles, then 200 miles of still air, then moving air for 100 miles offshore of Maui.
Just FYI when the wind blows on an Island its always towards the water!
