He didn't go, though, because he knew even his dream job would never pay off the loans, and he couldn't get enough financial aid...back around 25 years ago, when they still had prestige, and tuition was a fraction of what it is today. Today, I can't even imagine the debt involved. But, let's just cancel this debt, for the irresponsible, instead of incentivizing schools to lower tuitions.
You and your friend made wise decisions, only to see those that made unwise decisions have their debts "forgiven" whilst those universities have no incentive to make tuition affordable. You get it!
