It’s very odd that they claim this only happens in “ultra-orthodox” sects. Seems like it would be the opposite, as ultra-orthodox holds the first five books of the Bible in highest regard (correctly, per the article).
While it’s true that there is unaddressed corruption in all formal organizations (not even just religions), I would more expect to see a practice like metzitzah b’peh come out of Reform Judaism, which often barely seems to acknowledge the Bible.
This strikes me as the LGBT-led branch of the Methodist church slandering the other branches as agents of hate for pointing out that sodomy is an abomination, scripturally. Does anyone know an actual place where they hold this ceremony?
As far as a “bris”, it was fairly common for American hospitals to perform circumcisions in the past. A bris just adds ceremony.
