It is common down here to hear a pastor finishing a prayer by saying, "And all God's children say..." and the and the congregation saying in unison, "AMEN." I don't know how regionalisms (words and sayings that one finds in one region but not another) begin, but it does happen.
Another example of a regionalism is like when a Southern woman says, "Well bless your heart." It MIGHT be meant as an actual blessing, but can also mean several things... like, "I don't agree with you, but carry on," or "that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard," or many other nuances that would have to be understood in context.
But I mean this literally as a blessing, bless your heart, fren.
Ahhhh a Hibbs man!! ❤️
