I do think this was a reasonable point. However, I lean towards sun_wolf's observation that they did it behind his back. There was a bit of a "holy shit, they really did it" look on his face.

It is so very confusing. That day changed a lot for me. My now husband got called up and for two weeks, it was trips to the armory every day and then he left on my birthday.
