The quilt behind him is from a group called "Quilts of Valor" and they honor anyone touched by war. I was privledged to have received one at my VVA chapter this year. The women assemble and stitch up the elements into a unique pattern related to the recipient.
I see stuff like this and all it does is bring back old memories, some good, some bad.
Problem is, most of the bad ones are from after Nam.
Like getting spit on and such. Like getting booted out of the VFW and Legion halls because we were 'losers'. Like being pretty much forced to relocate to a Navy town because there was no future where I grew up.
Like having my house burgled with the only object being my Nam memorabilia, qual cards, records and such. Nothing else was touched - even though some was right next to a stack of $100 bills, left untouched.
Like having the squadron records removed: records from many CSAR missions deleted, including two forays to the Hanoi Hilton, during which our support was called back, leaving us to bite it under NVA fire - two helos, big, fat, with nothing other than our own M60s for defense - but we did get back.
Bad memories.
Done 👍
Tell him to use rumble instead
I'm not going to tell the old vets with the American Legion they'd better get with the times.
I love that response.
Agreed.
But it doesn't have to be said like that. Let him know the difference and why there is a difference. Doesn't have to be demeaning.
No one here demeaning anyone. Until now.
Tell him he's supporting pedophilia y using YouTube
Wasn't expecting some of those anecdotes :)
Loved it, thank you.

Thanks for sharing this, mengderen!
TY!
I love this. So grateful someone documented this Patriot talking about his service during the inception of the SEALS.

I'm so sorry you experienced any of this.
Done.
