Got a notification at work, of all places, that there will be a nationwide emergency alert test on October 4th. FEMA and FCC testing the EAS and WEA at approximately 2:20pm ET. So don't get too excited! Also, apologies if this has already been posted somewhere since it was announced back in August.

Several people sent me this...
They're saying to pull your SIM card and go hang out in the woods for a while.
Some in Europe who went through a recent EAS test said putting the phone in a faraday bag didn't prevent it from receiving the notification. Go figure...
I remember Y2k, so... like whatever man. No big deal to prep for it, esp if you're pure blood, but who really knows.
From what I read, this has never been done before - a full spectrum EAS test - TV, phone, AM, FM, XM - globally.
I'm just going to go for an hour to the beach and leave my phone in a tin. Is a tin better than a faraday cage?
Dunno... chuck it in there and call it from another phone....
