About 3 weeks ago she broke one of her toes. This normally would not be a big deal but she has type 2 diabetes and it had a small wound on it. I did not know this(she hid it from me) and last wednesday we went off to the beach with my family. She was limping around a bit during the trip but she claimed it was just a small scratch. Monday morning when she got up it was black as can be from the tip of her toe to her first knuckle. We went to the ER and her toe is pretty much dead. She has to have it removed to protect the rest of the foot. The good news is she has great circulation of blood right now and it does not appear to be spreading but it is still scary as a diabetic. Surgery will be either later today or tomorrow. Please pray for her to come out of this safe with the infection dead and no chance to spread anywhere else. I appreciate it!

Sir. Your hands are supposed to be on every square inch of your wife so often it is impossible for her to have a secret broken toe.
Do better!!!!
Also she will be fine. God is with you. But let this missing toe serve as a warning. Be more attentive to your wife.
You know type 2 diabetes is the optional diabetes, right? I take every opportunity to remind my constant ice-cream and cobbler eating mother that she is living in a self-imposed state of fatness and that type 2 diabetes didn't used to exist because before discovering the insulin CHEAT people that got fat enough to choke out their pancreas either a. lost the weight or b. died.
Living with a type 2 diabetic feels like living with a type 1 heroin addict.
They don't want to fix their condition by changing their habits, noooooo.
Their dealer already told them they can continue doing basically what they're doing and just keep injecting the stuff the dealer sold them.
They eat high calorie high carb poor people food. They push themselves to the verge of death and then shoot themselves up with insulin. Then they lay in bed and say "oh woeth me poor me I am diabetic there is nothing I could have done for this to not happen!"
To fix type 2 diabetes literally all you have to do is lose enough weight that the pancreas is no longer being choked out and crushed by your fat fucking ass to the point it can no longer push out any goddamn insulin.
How much weight needs to be lost from the surrounding area of the pancreas? Only 1 or 2 grams!! Grams!!!!!!!
But for some people, you have to lose a lot of weight before your body considers dropping organ-surrounding fat.
For years now I have looked back and despised the way my mother leaned on her "type 2 diabetes" as a crutch. Weak-minded in this and many other ways. Failing to deliver to my father the woman he married, forcing him to live with a fat blimp Wall-E bullshit ass person.
Let this be the wake-up event that gets you back on track for personal fitness as a couple. Being fat isn't normal or cute. It's playing dice with your life.
