My friend took his two dogs to the vet, yesterday, to get their annual rabies poison jabs. Luckily, the vet checked the records and found that they had the last shots in March so he refused to give them again.
The dogs get a 5 month reprieve. Apparently, rabies shots are mandatory in Greece but I've never heard of a case of rabies here on the island. Of course the locals keep their "barrel dogs" on chains to guard the chickens so they never get jabbed - law or no law. But the stupid expats ... well, words fail me.
Look, whether you love animals or humans, please understand that ALL vaxxines have potential "side effects" so you have to weigh the risk against possible benefits. If there's NO disease where you live, you (and your animal) don't need "protection" against it.
No vaccines for us or even our pups. I use homeopathic (which is a dilution) anyway. No big pharma drugs for me and my family. Occasionally I do need an Aleve for headache but none of my family members need vaccines.
