Instead of donating money, people should donate their time by volunteering at a local food bank or other LOCAL, observable charity. Or donate food/items/time to your church, they can distribute to local folks in need.
My church used to provide a meal one Sunday a month for a local Salvation Army facility but got kicked out due to insurance issues. Was a great joy for us and sad to end it. Was sweet to be known by residents as “the bread lady”.
Time for us is more valuable then money but we tried. We will stay local.
