They used to be the only charity I would give money to,they went woke two years ago. I forget the details, but it was pretty bad.
A brethren of my old church said that he always gave to Salvation Army until his house burned down. He had 5 kids at home and so he went there to ask for some help. For some reason they denied helping him, so he quit giving them money after that. This brother always gave to any organization at Christmas or any need that needed to be met,. He headed up our own Shoe Boxes for kids at Christmas and the Veterans Home Christmas gifts. I couldn't see anyone denying him anything until he told that story. So I no longer even give them my old clothing or articles of material things.
I got a friend in Portland who received help from them. I used to go buy dishes from them and donate items to them. At one point, I almost went to work for them.
I Knew several of the local captains very well, they helped run our food stand at the ballpark for kids.
They were very good men.
I am sure there are good people in even the worse organizations.
