On that subject, David Icke gave a whole big lecture about how demonic forces were essentially trying to bring people down (emotionally/spiritually) as much as possible to recreate the world in their own image - darkness.

Kinda funny - for a man who does not believe in God he has a very good understanding of the demonic realm and how it operates.
