A freight train operated by Union Pacific Railway, hauling heavy military vehicles, derailed near downtown Colorado Springs Monday night.
Local news KKTV 11 reported eight train cars hauling heavy military equipment derailed along Las Vegas Street, just south of Circle Drive, around 1830 local time.
Seems like you could have a few robotic "track chasers" that run a stopping-distance in front of the trains to check rail conditions --- followed by surveillance chasers.
That would be an intelligent and humanitarian use of technology. So we probably won’t see anything cool like that.
Could be cheap ---- even, god forbid, electric. Probably needs about 10hp to get train speeds.
They used suicide cars in FL yrs ago during a union strike, but they were trying to stop this type of thing, now....
You need about a mile to stop a train.
The chaser would have to be about a minute ahead of the train (at 60 mph)
This would add extra wait time and piss everyone off.
I would be mad to if I were still alive & late to work. My boss would kill me. :)
Why can't we keep trains on the tracks
Sabotage maybe?
Likely.
Humm hope there are any bad guys near there to take advantage of the situation, my mind is spinning with the what if's.
