Figuring that a convergence of saturn + jupiter was the 'star' followed at the birth of Jesus by the wise men, and it apparently being located in the constellation of Pisces, I believe its a testable hypothesis if this indeed was a 'star in the east' at the time and location given as the birthplace of Jesus. As in, was pisces in the eastern sky in this part of the world at that time.
I've seen websites that claim to map out the constellations respective to various times of year and regions of the world, you can order a star chart of the day you were born for example if thats to your liking. So it doesnt seem so hard to dig into stuff like this more.
As Jupiter and Saturn had their rendezvous just a few days before Christmas, forming what looked like a single bright object in the sky, the 2020 great conjunction was sometimes also called the “Christmas star” or “Bethlehem star.”
In fact, some scholars have theorized that the original Christmas star, known as the Star of Bethlehem, might also have been a great conjunction. According to Christian lore, a bright light in the sky led the Three Wise Men to the location of Jesus's birth. Other theories aiming to explain this biblical phenomenon include a supernova explosion and a comet.
