This may sound a bit strange to some people, but I'm a little distraught right now. My cat recently injured her tail very badly. After thinking about it, I think someone, maybe a neighbor, stepped on it and she tried to pull away and it yanked her tail out of its place. She has a really high fracture and is having her whole tail amputated tomorrow morning. I dropped her off at the vet this morning and they are afraid she may have some nerve damage and may not be able to control her bladder/anus muscles very well. Worst case she may have to be manually relieved for the rest of her life. She's only 5 years old. I pray that's not the case. She hasn't showed issues of that so the worry is that the surgery may be complicated because it's such a sensitive area.
She's at a major university vet school ICU so she's in good hands but the cost is going to be unbearable to me. 5-6k. All going on a credit card. I am already at the end of my financial rope. I make less than 1k a month and barely scraping by trying to save up anything I can. I don't know if anyone can help me find a better job, but I'll take just about anything, willing to relocate, freelance IT work, etc.
This is Princess. I pray that the surgery go well tomorrow and for Princess to be able to live a normal life again. Also help me find a way to pay for this and to find a more productive occupation.
Amen.
Update Princess is out of surgery and the surgeon said it went very well with no complications and she should make a full recovery. Thanks again for the prayers, frens. It means a lot.
Update on Princess: She's out of surgery and everything went well. She's staying for overnight observation but she handled everything like a champ.
Yay! Thank God for answered prayers! 🙏🙌
We're SO happy for you and your family! What a relief to hear that everything went well and she'll be home soon. She'll be excited to be home with you and your family. You may want to keep her inside where the world is safer. All of our kitties were rescues from parking lots, etc. and now they are inside and never want to go out.
Thank you for updating your family here! Praying blessings for you both and your future! Send us an updated picture when she's recovered. 🐈⬛💕
Yeah she will have to be indoor for a while, hopefully not forever. She loves the outdoors and she is/was a really good climber. She would often climb up on the roof of the carport and wait for me to come home from work. My cats are all from the same litter, mom and 3 sisters. Princess is one of the sisters. I had them with me when I was living in my car in the woods because no landlord would accept 4 cats. They all are used to being outside and they still sometimes catch mice and eat them. Princess prefers birds.
Ok...just watch her carefully. How fantastic that she will be home soon with you!
Perhaps you might want to consider employment at a vet clinic because of your devotion to your cat family?
Is Princess recovering and adjusting well from her surgery now that she's been home for a couple of hours days?
Thanks for asking. Yes, she's been recovering really well. I brought her home yesterday and she peed in my lap during the ride, but that's understandable because they had her on a fentanyl IV. Since she got home she's been doing good. She still has good control of her faculties so she's able to use the litter box on her own and not having any accidents. She's lamenting having to stay inside though and the other cats are looking at her funny.
