Point of Information: I know Americans like to blame everything on England and the Royals but the Rothschild family actually started out in Germany. One of their sons was sent to England.

There is a clue in the name. The family name was originally Bauer (Farmer) but their house had a sign outside for recognition purposes. Not many could read at that time so names were problematic. Their sign was a red shield, in German: Red=Rot Shield=Schild.
