Anyone who has dealt with liberal logic in the form of code knows that it's far from logical, and a mess to untangle - using the latest and greatest as a learning experience rather than just doing their jobs and keeping it minimal. Imagine 1000's of liberals writing code with bad intentions - cleaning it up would take years and rewriting it would probably take years as well because it's going to permeate the databases and IT infrastructure as well.
I disagree with the effort to strip out the algorithms. But I'm not sure how long it would take a team to write a whole new code base without all the crap in it - sometimes the best approach.

Personal opinion, rewrite it and pull the databases over. Cleaner code and eliminates anything hidden.
